The Arctic

Polar Bears

Svalbard offers the best polar bear odds of any accessible Arctic destination, and most summer voyages record at least one sighting, though no operator guarantees it. Bears are usually seen at distance from the ship on pack ice. Early-season sailings, when ice is still extensive, generally produce better encounters.
